Anastasios Koularmanis “THE IMPORTANCE OF TEACHER STUDENT RELATIONSHIPS IN THE CLASSROOM OR ONLINE”

The connection between a teacher and his/her student plays a significant role in a child’s academic progress and social-emotional development. Creating a healthy relationship with a teacher helps a student feel more relaxed protected. This will prove vital when students return in September.

Years from now, our students will not remember what they learned during COVID-9, they will however remember that their teacher emailed them a note asking how they were feeling and even called to check-in. The value of student-teacher relationships is evident. Knowing our students is the basis of teaching and learning. As this pandemic unfolds, we will see that it was these relationships that made a significant difference and mattered the most. Schools must continue this focus on relationships by making them a priority in each teachers’ everyday practices, whether learning is done remotely or in the classroom.
